Residents Update 2nd March 2015

Elba Ground Rent Dispute

Update - 2nd March 2015

As it’s been a little while since our last update, we wanted to keep residents informed of the present position regarding our discussions with the City & County of Swansea.

We met with Council Leader, Rob Stewart and relevant officers of the Council on the 12th February, to discuss our respective positions on the various figures in issue eg the ground rent amount and freehold purchase price.

At that meeting it was agreed that our respective surveyors would go away and discuss the figures between themselves, to see if any common ground could be found for resolving this dispute, without referral to a Leasehold Valuation Tribunal.  If any common ground could be found, the surveyors would then report back to their respective sides with possible recommendations for settlement.

At that point, we would need to call another residents’ meeting to discuss our surveyor’s recommendations and hopefully agree a co-ordinated way forward.

Those discussions between the surveyors are already underway and ongoing at this time, but we anticipate them concluding shortly.

Once they have concluded, we will issue another update, giving details of any further residents’ meeting.

In the meantime, we would urge residents to remain calm.  We are doing everything we can to bring this matter to a conclusion and hope to have further substantive news for you soon.
