Update 5th September 2014

UPDATE
5th September 2014

The Action Group’s ongoing dialogue with the Council was delayed a little towards the end of August, as a result of Rob Stewart's sacking by the then Leader, David Philips.

Rob Stewart (along with the Deputy Leader, Christine Richards) had been one of the Cabinet members most involved in the Elba dialogue. In fact, you may remember that both he and Christine attended the Public Meeting at Gowerton Rugby Club in June.

There then followed a week of political uncertainty, concluding with David Philips resigning and Rob Stewart being elected leader of the local Labour group.
It is expected he will be formally voted in as Council Leader, at the Council meeting next week on the 9th September.
We should now be able to make further progress regarding negotiations over the ground rent.

Our local Councillor, Sue Jones, has been very active on our behalf within the Council, and we are very grateful for her efforts in this.

Rob Stewart emailed Sue this week to acknowledge the importance of maintaining the momentum in trying to resolve this issue.

He has agreed to contact the Action Group after the 9th September to agree a firm schedule of dates for progress.

There was an overwhelmingly positive response to the Action Group's call for contributions to obtain legal advice, we will shortly be instructing our barrister.
The instructions to the barrister are already drafted and only awaiting final comment by our surveyor.

Whilst we understand everyone's concern, we are only part way through the process and there's still everything to play for.
